When and Where to Find Largemouth Bass in New Jersey

He leads the company as managing director and runs the sales department. However, Edgar Alacan lives in Lake Como, New Jersey, and enjoys fishing.

New Jersey provides ideal habitat for largemouth bass; deep clear lakes, lakes with aquatic vegetation, shallow stained lakes, tidal freshwater rivers, and tiny park ponds. Assunpink Lake, Lake Hopatcong, Manasquan Reservoir, Greenwood Lake, Delaware Lake, Monksville Reservoir, and Splitlock Reservoir have good largemouth bass populations.

In New Jersey’s early spring, rising water temperatures draw largemouth out of their wintering grounds and into the shallow flats of bays near deep water. The fish’s metabolism at this time is slowly rising, making them more inclined to bite. Largemouth bass will stay in these areas until mid-summer when they retreat deeper into the lakes for cooler temperatures throughout the spring and early summer.

Late September and October bring cooler water temperatures, making it a good time of the year for fishing. In preparation for the coming winter, the bass begins to eat extensively. Fish will congregate in large groups in the lake’s open sections, pursuing forage fish.
